CASA’s 2022 Diverse Book Drive Suggested Book List

Updated: Dec 15, 2021

Thank you for supporting our diverse book drive to benefit children and youth involved in the child welfare systems in Delaware and Chester counties! Our goal is to give approximately 1,500 children and youth a diverse book. We believe that all children should be able to see themselves and others reflected in the books that they read. This means various aspects of identity, including family, gender, race, ethnicity, culture (such as traditions, songs, nursery rhymes), language and how language is used, religion, socio-economic status, immigration experience, and other aspects of identity and lived experiences. Below is a list of suggested books provided to us by our book drive partners and supporters as well as a few staff and volunteer favorites.

When purchasing your book, we encourage you to support local Black owned bookstores in our area. Here are a few bookstores who are partners in our drive and would appreciate your business!

Harriet’s Bookshop (Philadelphia, PA)

Uncle Bobbie’s (Philadelphia, PA)

MeJah Books (Chester PA and Claymont, DE)

Books and Bagels (Wilmington, DE)
