CASA Youth Advocates today announced that tickets are available for its 25th anniversary gala to be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Drexelbrook Catering and Special Events Center in Drexel Hill, PA. The event will feature an open bar, awards, and live and silent auctions.
CASA Youth Advocates recruits, trains and supports volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates who work to ensure abused and neglected children in Delaware and Chester Counties’ Dependency Court systems a safe, permanent, and nurturing home.
“We are so proud that we have been in operation for 25 years – but this number seems insignificant compared to the countless lives of children in Delaware and Chester Counties we’ve been able to help with the continued efforts of our volunteers,” said Anne Shenberger, Executive Director of CASA Youth Advocates.
At this year’s gala, five individuals will be honored as Volunteers of the Year for their resiliency in advocating for children with particularly difficult cases:
George and Ruth Ann Dreyer of Media
Carole Cavanaugh of Chadds Ford
Daniella Choynowski of Drexel Hill
Phyllis Slutsky of Narberth
“The dedicated work of these individuals accounts for the success of our organization, and we are so happy to recognize them this year for their attentiveness and compassion in working with their CASA children,” added Shenberger.
While CASA celebrates its 25th anniversary, it will also honor an incredible volunteer of 20 years, Berwyn resident Randi Gilbert. Randi initially began volunteering in 1997, and her undying work with children over the past two deccades has not gone unnoticed.
“Randi is truly an amazing person,” added Shenberger. “For the past 20 years she has contributed thousands of hours to help kids who need someone in their corner, someone to be their champion. She is our first volunteer to serve 20 years. We are so thankful and appreciative.”
Additionally, Jamie Raddatz, a Children and Youth Services Social Worker will be honored for her outstanding service.
According to research conducted through the National CASA Association, children with a Court Appointed Special Advocate are more likely to be adopted, half as likely to re-enter foster care, receive more services while in the system, and perform better in school. Insuring these improved outcomes for all children in Delaware and Chester Counties’ Dependency Courts becomes a matter of scale and resources, which is where fundraising events like the CASA’s annual gala play an important role.
